Renaye Brown. Cuyler, Of Counsel

Ms. Renaye Brown Cuyler  concentrates her legal practice in personal injury, medical malpractice, and trusts and estates.  She is one of the founders and former member of the law firm of Gorayeb & Cuyler, P.C. which grew under her leadership from three attorneys to twenty attorneys. 


Ms. Cuyler specializes her practice in civil litigation, particularly in the area of medical malpractice and personal injury. She has been an attorney for over thirty years.  She was responsible for major Supreme Court and Appellate Division decisions in the areas of medical malpractice and personal injury liability, among others.  Ms. Cuyler achieved consistently record setting verdicts and settlements.

Ms. Cuyler was appointed to and served on several judicial screening committees having  been appointed  by both Governors Pataki and Cuomo to serve on the New York State Judicial Department.  She served on the New York State Court Screening Committee, First Judicial Department.  She served on the New York State Court of Appeals Screening Committee.  She also has been a member of numerous bar association committees. 


Among the New York State Bar Committees she has served are: New York State Bar Committee on Justice and the Community; New York State Bar Committee on Minorities in the Profession (as Chair and Member); New York State Bar Committee to Confer with The Committee of the Medical Society of the State of New York; New York State Annual Awards Committee. She has been a member of the New York State Bar House of Delegates; the New York County Lawyers Board of Directors; New York State Trial Lawyers Board of Directors: and Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association. She is former President of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association. She is currently a Fellow of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Foundation. She is currently a life time member of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, a member of the Association of Black Women Attorneys and a life time member of the National Council of Negro Women. 


Ms. Cuyler has been a featured lecturer on legal topics for local, state and national Bar Associations and the Practicing Law Institute. She has also lectured to community groups about estate planning and end of life decisions. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors for community based organizations. She currently serves on Community Board Eight in Brooklyn and serves on its Economic Development Committee, and as Chair of the Catalyst Network Foundation. She is a member of the Healing Touch Ministry (focusing on HIV/AIDS awareness) at Emmanuel Baptist Church. 


Ms. Cuyler is also a licensed funeral director and an owner of Sealy Cuyler Funeral Home, LLC.
